performance in public space

The trilogy Lichtvangers (Lightvehicle) are perfomances taking place in various spaces, mostly in plublic spaces, for three consecutive years. Always on 21 December, Midwinter Night, the longest night of the year.
- In 2005 the first part of this trilogy took place
- In 2006 the second part, the Middle
- In 2007 the third and closing part

Lichtvangers is about individual development told in three parts, using a triangle as metaphor of the individual coming a live, growing.

Part I arise from, searching for
Part II birth, the awareness of being
Partl III manifestation of oneself, development, growth, movement, expansion

In the second part of the trilogy "Lichtvangers’’ the emphasis lays on the physical light. In contrast with the first part where the performers were even dressed in black and more or less everything took place in darkness. In this second part there will be static light, light as if it is caught from the north pole.

Route
From Stationsweg via Visstraat, Markt and Kerkstraat to the Sint-Jan cathedral were at 20:45 the audience will be taken to a secret location to see the indoor performance accompanied by live music by UFEP.

Inspiration > Midwinter Night
December 21st is Midwinter Night. The sun will (if it does shine) radiate for only a few hours. The night will be very long. So light will be needed to overcome the darkness. Various sun- and fire-dancerituals were developed to encourage the light, the sun to return. Folks held manifestations for days to celebrate the sun. They treated each other with gifts unifying their community for the future. Wood, sprinkled with wine, oil or holy water, was burned. The saying goes that this is the history of our current christmas-tree.
