Drawing Gang 2020

The Drawing Gang project always focuses on connecting lines. In 2020 Drawing Gang focuses on connecting lines in social and physical distance. Within Drawing Gang 2020 an extensive embranchment is growing in all its essence. I immerse myself in my visual language to make roots visible. Roots which determine the power of safety. By breaking through linear thinking models I confiure my visual language to allow a recognizable image to be detected. This allows the concept of these roots to penetrate the viewer's subconscious mind. In the studio 150 m2 of paper is waiting ... and this time I will continue to draw until the Gallery can be opened to the public again.

WORK IN PROGRESS AT ARTOTS

This work is acrylic on paper. I work with a lot of water to achieve various black shades.
Because of this I am simultaneously working on different pieces! After the first set-up is dry, I will work it out in details.
Then I can indicate that a work is finished. You can see the work process on my YouTube channel!

Drawings where I have been elaborating on the momument for Botopasi commemorating the war in the village in 1990. I have used my form depiction of fertility symbol as a canvas to tell the story of my tribe in my own manner. On 150m2 of paper I had some conversation with myself, there by creating visual language to make my roots visible.

Saamaka Mythology

Work in progress
Because of my regular visits lately to my hometown Botopasi in the interior of Suriname there is influence / inspiration. There is a manifest of an analogy in a discourse in my work. Mythology of ancestor worship. Works appear that tell the stories of my grandmother to my grandchildren. Soon some artists will join me at Art Center Botopasi (ARTCEB). You can follow what we are doing here.
